![]() Notes From The Den 12-2-07
Hello Den-ziens, It's time for another Notes From the Den! I'm going to keep things short this week. First up some programming notes. Lazlo's Den runs Monday thru Friday at 8pm ET on both www.BlowUpRadio.com and www.AsburyMusic.com. You can also hear replays of all 5 Lazlo's Den weekday shows every Saturday starting at noon on www.AsburyMusic.com. Monday (Dec. 3rd) on Lazlo's Den, don't miss a full hour with in-studio guests, Zigman Bird (www.zigmanbird.com). From Zigman Bird's Bio: This current incarnation emanates raw energy, pure rock and roll of the highest caliber. But dig a little deeper and there are even richer rewards for the listener. While the hooks and melodies drag you in by retaining the same feelings and vibe of the greats (Beatles, Lou Reed, Television, Iggy Pop, 70’s punk), Zigman Bird offers a unique new vision of their own, creating songs that capture the essence of the human condition and putting it to a beat. So tune in to hear them talk about their forthcoming CD, play 5 live songs in the Den, and talk up their big show on Friday Dec. 7th at Buddie's Tavern. And what is that big show? It's BlowUpRadio.com's 7th Anniversary Bash! As most of you know, I (Lazlo), started BlowUpRadio.com back in December of 2000 to spotlight New Jersey's indie music scene. I hope those of you in the area can come out and help me celebrate 7 years of playing great local music, with a great FREE show. In addition to a set by Zigman Bird, double-breasted, The Heshers, and Nick Ferriero (from Souls Release) & Friends, will all be playing. To help celebrate, this week on Lazlo's Den I will be playing some of my favorite NJ bands that I've been playing over the last 7 years. And now a quick recap of some of the stuff you heard on Lazlo's Den. Continuing tradition, The Pork Guys, "fuck christmas, fuck you", has been played every show. Will this madness continue on straight thru until christmas? Tune in to find out. Monday we had Stafford Davis from I/O\I call in to talk about his band's self-titled CD which you can get a copy of for free by going to www.eyeoeye.com. If you missed any of the interview, or want to hear it again, it's in the archive at www.LazlosDen.com. In keeping with what I said last week about having a vast library of music here, I decided it was time to dig in deeper and play more diverse stuff from the "vault". That included some "classics" from: 1000 Mona Lisas, Syb Barrett, Gigolo Aunts, The Disco Biscuits, The Farm, Wax, Val Emmich (who you may have seen on 30 Rock last week), The Cheese, SSRi, James, Utah Saints, Bob Mould, Little John, Moxy Fruvous, and The Marx Brothers Plus new music from: Switches, The YMD, Cut Off Your Hands, Ludo, and Josh Sallo. And we took time on to remember daredevil Evel Kinevel, and Quiet Riot frontman Kevin Dubrow. Well that about does it for this week folks. No rant this time (sorry to those of you who love that...it will likely be back next week). Hope to see as many of you as can make it on Friday! Peace, Lazlo www.lazlosden.com |
