Warm In The Wake - "American prehistoric"

As any regular listener of Lazlo's Den knows, I love the EP that Warm In The Wake put out at the beginning of this year. But the 7 songs on, "gold dust trail", was just an appetizer to "American prehistoric", which contains 15 new songs, that ebb and flow through landscapes of sound. A combination of roots rock/Americana, with indie-pop, some songs have the feel of a Fountains Of Wayne country-pop tune, while others remind me of some of the more sonic albums by The Jayhawks or Teenage Fanclub. But the songs on this album really have a sound all their own that kind of make comparisons the most vague of reference points for those that like them. "Pawn shop heart", feels like the perfect "radio single" to me, but there is not one bad song on this album. And, "American prehistoric", truly is an album, not just a collection of songs. There is a beginning a middle and an end, that leaves you fulfilled with the entire listening experience.
