West Indian Girl - "4th and Wall"

West Indian Girl's new CD, "4th and Wall", is a collection of 9 incredible songs that showcase infectious pop melodies with even more infectious harmonic vocals. Unfortunately, "4th and Wall", contains 11 songs. Sandwiched in the midst of these chilled-out pop gems, are two songs (tracks 7 & 8), that have too much of a disco/dance music vibe, and feel like they came from an entirely different album. The songs threaten to de-rail the disc, but thankfully it gets back on track and closes out with more strong melodies and harmonies. Lead signer Robert James, has a bit of a Perry Farrell (circa Porno For Pyros) inflection to his vocals, which I rather like mixed in with the lush harmonies of Mariqueen Maandig, Mark Lewis, and Amy White. Even with the inclusion of two songs I didn't care for, I still think this album is a must have. My suggestion is buy the CD and burn yourself a copy without tracks 7 and 8. In my opinion the album flows much better that way. However, you may find you like tracks 7 and 8 most of all. My opinion is just that, mine, and you have every right to disagree with, or ignore, my opinion. That said, if you are reading this, you probably care about my opinion, so go buy "4th and Wall" now!
