VHS or Beta - "bring on the comets"
VHS Or Beta...let's be honest, as a reference it's as outdated as Cassette or 8-Track, DVD or Laserdisc, or a generation from now HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. However, as a band, it is right here, right now. With "bring on the comets", VHS Or Beta creates a dance-rock album with infectious guitar hooks and catchy vocal melodies. Where as previously their music relied on more of a Euro-dance rock sound, something the Killers have now made popular, VHS Or Beta opted not to try to cash in on that now popular sound, and instead made an album much more interesting to me then their previous output (which I found interesting, but not brilliant). "Bring on the comets" is a brilliant album. Their songwriting and musicianship is stronger than ever, and shows so much growth. Every song on this album is good enough to be a modern rock/college rock single. I can't think of anything I'd change on this album. It's among my favorites of 2007.
