The Go - "howl on the haunted beat you ride"

Let me open this review by getting the obligatory famous reference out of the way. The Go are a band from Detroit that has a famous ex-member in in Jack White (who played guitar and sang on their 1999 release, "Whatcha Doin"). But that's not why you care about them. You should take note of The Go because they have created the best 60's Brit-pop / garage rock album of 2007. "Howl on the haunted beat you ride" could be played side by side with classic tracks from The Kinks, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones, among others, and fit in perfectly. They also know how to combine that Brit-pop sound with the old Motown sound from their home town (most notably on the song, "so long Johnny"). This album is full of 12 of the best retro pop songs you'll hear this year. What are you waiting for, go get your own copy now.
