The Polyjesters - "kitchen radio"

Is it possible for an album to sound both current and old-timey at the same time? Apparently it is, and The Polyjesters new CD, "kitchen radio", proves it. The album incorporates laid-back but upbeat swing/jazz music, with classic country harmonies, and a rockabilly/bluegrass backbeat. It's music that is fun and enjoyable for the young and old.

I do not know The Polyjesters influences, but I would guess that mixed in amongst them are fellow Canadian bands Moxy Fruvous and Barenaked Ladies, two other bands that mixed harmonies, and their own eclectic mixture of sounds into perfect pop songs.

Once you hear the infectious chorus on "Tuesday" (the first song on the album after a brief intro to the disc), I think you will be hooked. I was, and I'm still unable to get the chorus out of my head several days after last listening to the song. The entirety of "kitchen radio" is like that, with other standout tracks being "the devil came up to Alberta", "to boot", "countryside", and "the driving song". And, I have to also mention "Manjula" which appears to be a reference to two characters on my all time favorite show, The Simpsons. Woo-hoo!

"Kitchen radio" is like a party. Accept The Polyjesters invitation and enjoy.
