Halford - "metal god essentials vol. 1"

I have to admit, it's been a long time since I've listened to Rob Halford. Like most metalheads of the 80's I was fan of Judas Priest, but by the time Halford left them in 1992, I had moved on to listening to grunge music and didn't follow his career with the band Fight, and then touring under Halford. Thankfully, Metal God Entertainment has put out this nifty collection, compiling 13 of Rob Halford's post-Priest output, along with 2 new songs, and a remix of a song. With the title of, "metal god essentials vol. 1", it would be easy to joke that they were being too boastful, but the songs on this collection really is some of the best metal I've heard in a long time. Admittedly, I don't listen to metal much these days, but this album had me headbanging along and pumping my devil horns to the sky. What's truly amazing is that Rob Halford's voice can still hit those falsetto metal highs. With both Fight and Halford, Rob Halford has amassed some amazingly talented metal musicians, that make the songs really rock.

"Metal god essentials vol. 1", also comes with a bonus DVD, that includes a preview for, "Fight War Of Words - The Film", a forthcoming documentary about Rob Halford's departure from Judas Priest and his career thereafter. It also includes some short promotional films showing footage from the studio and on tours, and six videos and live performances of songs.

All in all, this collection is a nice reintroduction to Rob Halford and his post Judas Priest music, which is heavier then his former band, but just as much fun.
