The Groucho Marxists - "manifesto!"

There are plenty of good reasons to know the name Chris "Gobo" Pierce. He used to front the popular punk band, Doc Hopper, and has been in several other great bands. He also runs Technical Ecstasy Studio, producing great albums from Mazeffect and The Ergs, among others.

But I think the most important reason to know Chris "Gobo" Pierce right now is because he currently fronts The Groucho Marxists whose new CD is outstanding!

"Manifesto!" is 12 songs (actually there are 2 hidden tracks for a total of 14, one a very cool cover), in under 35 minutes. It is pure punk rock ethos, and much like "horseshoes & hand grenades" (Mazeffect's most recent CD that Pierce produced), does so with memorable hooks and melodies.

The Groucho Marxists have more of a wall of guitar rock sound then what is generally classified as pop-punk these days, but they have that classic sound that is reminiscent of a combination of the Buzzcocks, Husker Du, and early Replacements.

"Manifesto!", is a declaration of rock, and that's a manifesto I can get behind.
