The Crayons - "what's wrong with you"

You know that song, "I've been everywhere", by Geoff Mack (popularized by both Johnny Cash, and Lucky Starr)? Well, maybe The Crayons should cover it. Principal member KC (Keith Caruana), has had different incarnations of the band in Massachusetts, California, New Jersey, and now Albany, New York, but the sound has always revolved around his voice and songwriting. Much like previous output from The Crayons, KC's moody, dark, and often sad lyrics, are combined with lighter, more upbeat music, which makes the songs all the more deceptive. You could be singing along to say, "unlucky charm", without consciously thinking about the fact that the chorus is, "didn't mean any harm, I'm just an unlucky charm". Thankfully the lyric sheet is enclosed so you can read the lyrics separately or while listening to the CD, and enjoy the dark poetry. Once again, The Crayons chose the Chruchills to produce the CD for them, which is the perfect choice, as they are another pop rock band, that mixes light, upbeat music, with dark lyrics. While I enjoy this entire album, if you want to hear the perfect "single", let me recommend the ballad, "here and there", which should be the type of alt-rock crossover to mainstream rock radio hit.
