Caté - "groove life"
"Peace and blessings good people. Take off your shoes and just groove...", thus fittingly begins, "groove life", a CD by Caté. The album was actually released in 2004, but only came my way recently, and am I ever glad it did. Blending funk and jazz, with a little bit of Latin soul, this album is the perfect kickoff or capper to a night out. Kicking off with some upbeat, funky dance numbers, perfect to kick off an evening, "groove life" also contains some more laidback funk/jazz/soul songs, that would be a perfect accompaniment to nightcap...and maybe a little more. Caté, along with his Funky World Soul Orchestra, craft a fun and seductive album that flows smoothly from one song to another. They play around NYC and NJ pretty regularly and I suspect that their live show would be a great opportunity for them to jam out on some of these songs and take them to an even higher level.
