The next BlowUpRadio.com Free Concert Series show at Buddie’s Tavern (277 Johnsons Ln., Parlin (Sayreville), NJ), is my (Lazlo) birthday bash!
I hope you will come out and help me celebrate getting a year closer to my death.
Music will be supplied by The Heshers, Nerve Tonic, and The Break Evens!
It’s going to be a rocking night!
And as always, the show is FREE!
Here’s the BlowUpRadio.com programming schedule:
Monday thru Friday at 8pm ET - Lazlo’s Den
Wednesday night on Lazlo’s Den, Patti Rothberg will be calling in to discuss her show this Friday at the Crossroads. As with my last conversation with Patti, we quickly go off on various tangents. It’s an interview not to be missed!
As always, Lazlo’s Den will also do ‘New Music Tuesday’, and continue the ‘CD Library Project’, and Thursday night we’ll give you a preview of shows happening over the weekend in the NJ/NYC area.
New Music Tuesday this week will feature new music from Cracker, The Morning After Girls, Late Model Humans Chickenfoot, Placebo, and more!
And don’t forget about our other shows on BlowUpRadio.com
Tuesday at 10pm ET - ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ hosted by Tris McCall
Thursday at 10pm ET - ‘Rock N Roll Gas Station’ hosted by Jim Testa
We’ve done two BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull’s and both have exceeded my expectation. You can listen to the first one, featuring Joshua Van Ness, Jonathan Andrew, and Nick Ferriero, by going to www.BlowUpRadio.com
I hope to get some tracks from yesterday’s, which featured John Raido and Matt Colligan, up on the site soon.
The next BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull will take place on Sunday June 14th at 3pm ET, and feature Paul Rosevear (Readymade Breakup), Alana Q (Six To Eight Mathematics), and Jay Mazeffect (The Break Evens, Private Iron).
I am proud to announce that the 2nd annual Banding Together: benefit webathon for the Spondylitis Association Of America will take place October 16th-18th. Last year we had a blast with a whole slew of bands coming here to play acoustic for a good cause. We raised a lot of money and awareness for a painful rheumatic condition that prominent researchers have stated affects at least 1 in every 200 adults.
We already have 27 bands signed up to be a part of this, and with over 5 months before the webathon, we hope to double the number of participating bands.

And now for this week’s Pissed Off!
While talking to Patti Rothberg over the weekend (pre-recording the interview you will hear Wednesday on Lazlo’s Den), we were talking off air about the prevalence of “freebird” requests yelled out regardless of what band is playing.
The joke is old and tired…and frankly, I never need to hear “freebird” again in my life. This was a great indie country rock band who I saw years ago (whose name I unfortunately have long since forgotten), whose reply to play “freebird” was, “We’ve got your freebird right here”, and every band member stuck up their middle finger. Brilliant!
So I was trying to think of a new song for people to request, if they feel the need to yell out silly requests like “freebird”, and I think I’ve got it.
I’ve decided from now on we should all yell out requests for Right Said Fred’s, “I’m too sexy”.
Why you ask?
1. I think it’s safe to say no one has ever been at any show (even a Right Said Fred show) and yelled out for that song.
2. Until it becomes as clichéd as “freebird” requests, think of how confused the band will look when you yell out that request.
3. The song is bad that a cover of it would likely be better than the original, and even if it wasn’t, it’s such a bad song, who cares!
So start a new tradition. The next time you’re out at a show, yell out, “play ‘I’m too sexy’!”
That's all for this week.
Thanks for reading.
