from the forthcoming single

Based out of the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Knocks have emerged as a force to be reckoned with. The highly in demand duo, Ben "DJ B-Roc" Ruttner and James "JPatt" Patterson, have curated a signature sound that punches so hard with hooks so tight that would make the sharpest of funk bands from LCD Soundsystem to Prince very proud of these new kids on the block. Their precision with an ear for mixing retro soul funk and disco with futuristic dancefloor flair immediately caught the attention of Marina & The Diamonds, The Killers, Ellie Goulding, Britney Spears, Mr Hudson, Peter Bjorn and John, Katy Perry and they were even commissioned to do a remix for The Jackson 5. No doubt tastemaker record labels such as Neon Gold and Startime call upon their expertise in developing artists. Most recently they discovered, co-wrote and produced Samuel’s debut which they landed the deal on Startime/Columbia for this young pop star in waiting.

Thankfully, the duo have time to produce their own material and on May 11th ‘Blackout’ their newest single will undeniably become the new anthem we’ve been aching for to kick our spring into summer. “We tried to combine all our influences of hiphop (chopped and screwed vocal) Electro (heavy synths) and soul/disco (guitar/piano) into one thing that could be appreciated by fans of all the different genres” says The Knocks. Indeed somehow they magically crafted Blackout into one smooth superfly tune that carries the vintage appeal of Prince’s “I Will Die For You” yet it captures a “lower east side swagger in one kick ass package that is primed for mass consumption”.
